Tampa, FL – Markanthony R Little ( MA Art), a multidisciplinary artist known for vibrant storytelling through visual art, has been selected to participate in the West Tampa Signal Box Project, a community-driven initiative funded by the Tampa Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA).
The project aims to beautify and honor the rich cultural heritage of West Tampa through artist-designed signal boxes displayed throughout the neighborhood. The selection committee, impressed by Markanthony R Little’s ( MA Art) compelling work samples, assigned the theme “Historic Heart of West Tampa / Architecture.”
“This opportunity is deeply meaningful,” said Markanthony R Little ( MA Art). “I’m grateful to the CRA, the West Tampa Community Advisory Committee, and all who support my journey—especially my collectors, friends, and family. Your belief in my work is the reason I continue to grow as an artist.”
West Tampa, founded in 1892, boasts a distinctive architectural landscape shaped by Cuban, Spanish, Italian, and African American communities. Through this project, Markanthony R Little ( MA Art) will highlight the enduring spirit of Main Street—lined with vintage storefronts, iconic churches, and cultural landmarks such as Eagle Drug, Cozy Corner, Centro Espanol, and the Italian Club.
“I’m inspired by how these buildings reflect generations of commerce, tradition, and community. This is more than painting a signal box—it’s a tribute to the people and the stories that built West Tampa.”
Artwork is expected to be installed inlate June, serving as a lasting visual celebration of the neighborhood’s
and cultural legacy.
